SECNet
Bringing Wireless Broadband into your community
We are building a High-speed,
Wireless broadband internet services & it will soon be available in your
area, and brought right to your PC or network. No new cables to lay, and no
waiting for your telephone operating company to make ADSL available on existing
telephone lines.
What’s the value for you?
- The benefit of high-speed, ‘always on’
communications
- Downloading from the web 50 times faster than
dial-up, and more than twice the speed of ADSL
- Keeping up with competitors and peer
organisations
- Saying goodbye to dial-up connection charges
- Pricing options based on the speed you need
and the volume of data you want to handle.
SECNet will install and manages
the aerials around your area (often on shared communication towers) that pick
up your signals and transfer them into the high-speed internet network. The
network is built on some of the most advanced software available, using readily
available, off-the-shelf hardware to ensure low-cost service.

Wireless
Internet Access - Technical Detail
Subsonic Wireless is based on an innovative technology
called "fixed wireless." This wireless, broadband
technology connects you to the Internet at speeds
faster than many of today's wired alternatives.
Microwave Radio Fixed Wireless
Subsonic Wireless fixed wireless technology uses a stationary 13" x
10"
rectangular-shaped device called a transceiver that is mounted on the
exterior of your home, usually on your roof. The transceiver is pointed
toward a radio transmission tower that sends and receives signals. Once
the signal is received by your transceiver it is sent to the computer
inside your home.
Customer Premise Equipment
Our Wireless CPE kit consists of:
• All-In-One Firewall, Router, Radio and Antenna unit
(pictured above)
• Ethernet Power Injector Unit
• 50' CAT5 Network Cable
• 5' CAT5 Network Patch Cable
How Does It Work?
First, your computer sends a packet of data to the CPE's router, which
then sends the packet wirelessly to a nearby Subsonic Wireless radio tower.
The tower then relays the signal to the Subsonic Wireless Datacenter, which
is the hub of all Subsonic Wireless operations. From here, it is routed to
either the Internet or to the corresponding Webpipe.net server (like
an email server.) The packet returning to your computer follows exactly
the same path back to your computer. This whole process typically
happens in about 20ms- that's less than 1/50th of a second.
How Fast?
Speeds vary, depending on network utilization, distance from tower,
obstructions in line of site and radio interference. Our network is
designed to be very tollerant and operate well under less than ideal
network, radio and evironmental conditions. Bitrates are typically symetrical.
• Shared (burstable) plans vary from 256kbps up to 3000kbps. Shared
plan customers usually see typical bitrates near 1000kbps.
• Dedicated, guaranteed bandwidth plans range from 128kbps to 1544kbps.
Where Is Subsonic Wireless Available?
SECNet’s Subsonic Wireless Network currently services most of City of Mt
Gambier & the Grant District Council area, with expansion into
the Wattle Range & Kingston Council area in the works.
